In Progress
Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value. —Albert Einstein
Garden Extension
This project is taking off and the hardscape is nearing completion and getting ready to start the landscape portion of the project. The client was able to procure the lot directly next to theirs allowing them to expand their garden space and integrate a pool, pavilion, and seating areas for exercise and entertainment. It was important that the style and feeling of the extension needed to feel connected with the existing house while integrating into the natural landscape.
As you move from the house you are invited to stop and contemplate the view and your surroundings in a series of locations making it more than just one focus but an experience of reflection and admiration to the nature around you.
Choosing natural sustainable materials played a big role in this project. You progress over Ipe walks left to weather that floats over the landscape to a brick and stone terrace that will house a screened in pavilion with a natural copper roof and mahogany barrel vaulted ceiling.
Plymouth Center for the Arts
The Plymouth Center for the arts has begun construction. The Plymouth Center for the Arts in Plymouth Massachusetts is comprised of three buildings, two of which are historically significant. The Challenge was to create a new accessible entry and circulation space to the complex that would work within the historic fabric of the street. I have been very lucky to be able to team up with Amory Architects in Plymouth on this project and look forward to seeing it come to life in the next year.
Kiawah Renovation
Nestled in a small neighborhood near the Sanctuary our client wanted to update their beach cottage. The existing kitchen was quaint and starting to show its age so we borrowed space from the existing screen porch to provide a new enlarged kitchen that can house their growing family and created a more open concept to the layout. This project is currently under construction and the team at Dwell Construction is doing a wonderful job and we are looking forward to seeing the vision come to life.
We reorganized the window layout in the dining room and provided transoms to create a stronger connection to the screen porch and provide more natural light into the space. We have also increased the height of the windows in the kitchen space to give better views to the shared common park that is outside. With the new finishes and reorganizing of the spaces throughout its transforming into a new home.
Wampanoag Culture Center
When I had the opportunity to team up with Amory Architects once again I could not pass it up. The Wampanoag Homesite at Plymouth Plantation needed a space to house the support side of their day to day operations, provide learning centers, and have a place where they can do demonstrations for the visitors of the Plymouth plantation. This project is still in the early design stages but I am excited to see how it grows.
Freemans Cottage
Working Down Town Charlestons historic district can be tricky with permitting and review processes. Keeping the integrity and style of the house in its original form is very important and anything that is changed needs to be thought through carefully. In this project we are relocating the entrance to the house so aid in a more fluid and efficient layout within and providing a new canopy for the new entrance that fits into the style and character of the house.
